Interesting Upcoming EVs

I just want a place to throw some links that tend to be utilitarian EVs. Excluding the EV that I currently own, here’s what looks promising coming up:

TELO – EV mini-truck. Can seat five and has a short (short) bed. It also has a with a pass-through, so if you only need to move a few full sheets of plywood with one helper, it’ll do it. $40k.

Slate – Rumors of a $20k mini-truck, post-incentives, natch. I saw this and immediately thought of the ultra-basic mini truck that I drove across country several times with a four-cylinder, four-speed. The rumors also suggest that there’s a press release due on Thursday, April 24. Today is April 24. Nothing yet. But I’m at least hopeful. Q4, 2026.

Aptera – Tadpole-style commuter. A two-seat, very long range EV in the extremely efficient, tadpole-style, three-wheel variety. Augmented with photovoltaic panels in the hood/roof. This was in a movie many years ago. Disappeared. Then reannounced in perhaps 2021 or so. The Aptera team seems to be working very slowly and methodically toward its release to the wild. Because it’s a tadpole style three-wheeler, it’s extremely stable — not like the absurd Reliant Robin. But very much more like the CanAm Spyder, but enclosed from the weather. $50k.
