Chuck Woolery on Assault Weapons

Pretty much, though not necessarily in this venue, what I’ve been saying for years.

But I can still see it. You can’t stop the signal.

While Everything Else Is Going On…

Daisy and I were preparing to announce any day now that after a long series of fertility treatments; and a brush with death from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy; and much ongoing arguing with assorted insurance companies about getting double-billed, and the meanings of the terms “Unlimited Coverage” and “No Lifetime Maximum” on medical coverage; the joyous news of the pending arrival of child #4* in June of 2013; a child whom I was intent on naming Freya.

We discovered just this morning that we’ve lost her.

You know that feeling you get when you walk down a flight of stairs in the dark and forget that there’s one more step? Something like that.

And, with that, I’d like to offer my gratitude to

  • the staff of the University of Colorado Hospital ARM office for the past twelve years that did lead to the success for Daisy and I with Little Dude;
  • to Amy for her selfless contribution that led to Little Miss;
  • and to Shannon, for Boy Wonder (and by extension, Special K and JM).

* or #6 depending on your perspective–longer story there.

Saturday

Knew the weather today was going to be colder, rainier, and possibly some snow. So, seemed like a good reason to take The Littles to see Wreck It Ralph first thing in the morning. Fortunately, they’ve reached the age where they’re capable of sitting through an entire movie without distracting everyone — that makes for a much more enjoyable experience for everyone.

My Wreck It Ralph review consists of two words: worth seeing.

Two more words: very much.

Anyway, about that weather:

Seems like a good excuse for me to run out and throw some lead. After all, not all hunting and competition will be in perfect weather.

Thoughts Post-Election Day

1. What in the hell is wrong with people? Have you not been screwed enough already?

2. I’ve long known that my preferred candidate wouldn’t win, but I do wonder how the true numbers really came out.

3. I’ve had the scene from Aliens in my head that includes the line, “I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.”

4. I really do believe things will get far, far worse–and probably rather soon.
