100 Reasons to Eschew Public Education
Seen somewhere on the Interwebs, but I think the original is here. Each and every one of them is a good enough reason in itself.
I’ll add a #101: those people who are calling the shots are evil.
Man, He Was Fast…
Over at MaddMedic’s, a video posted of the Late, Great Bob Munden doing a fast-draw demo. That double shot in real time is amazing.
The other three stories in that post will probably just make your blood boil. So, click over, watch the Bob Munden video, then go do something more entertaining with your day.
The DOD Really Stands For…
Don’t know why, but every time I see “DOD” my brain interprets it as “Department of Doom”.

My First Travel Trailer
I’ve been wanting a travel trailer for years and years. Probably since I was about 14 or 15 or so.
But with life being what it is (life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans), I didn’t have the wherewithal and — more importantly, I think — the inertia to get serious about it.

| 2013 Jayco Jay Feather Ultra Lite X17A |
Completely self-contained. Just large enough to sleep the family without having to rearrange furniture. Light enough to be towed by my geriatric little SUV.
We’ll get to bring it home in another two weeks or so. I’m not sure who’s looking forward to it more: the kids, my wife, or me!
I suppose this also means that I’ll need to do some serious maintenance on my tow vehicle in short order: replace the timing belt and some worn steering components at least. And maybe a transmission overhaul for good measure.
Anyway, this morning, my wife asked if we should name it.
I hadn’t thought about that, but I suppose it wouldn’t hurt.
How about Galileo? In honor of the Italian physicist (I am a bit of a science geek) but also the name of the a shuttlecraft depicted in the first episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Yeah, I’m as big a sci-fi geek as I am a science geek.
